Seems like about time for another recipe.

Kugel is a noodle dish, but there are all sorts of variations. Sweet kugel, savory kugel, kugel with fruit in it (yuck). Each side of Jon's family has their own recipe. The one I've adopted comes from Jon's mom, aka Grandma Carolyn. It's a sweet kugel, but Jon and I like to sprinkle it with a little salt.

I have to say it doesn't look very appetizing while you're making it. It's kind of a strange combination of ingredients. We all love it, though, and it's a staple in our fridge.

Grandma Carolyn's Kugel

12 oz medium egg noodles

¾ lb cottage cheese

4 eggs – well beaten

1 ½ teaspoons salt

1 ½ cups sour cream

1 ½ cups applesauce

4 oz butter, cut up

¾ cup sugar

Cook the noodles, then drain and rinse. Combine with the remaining ingredients and pour into a 9 x 13 baking dish.

Bake @ 350 for 45 mins to 1 hour.
